Value Added Courses

The semester scheme consists of three value added courses in the first and second semester. Each course is conducted for two hours a week and has one credit point each. It is mandatory for all students to pass in each course in order to complete their PG program.

1. STATISTICAL PACKAGES FOR SOCIAL SCIENCE-SPSS
SPSS software is widely used in the field of research and analytics. The PG Department organizes SPSS training program of 30 hours for the second year M.com and M.com (IB) students. This program aims to train the students to use the SPSS software in order to assist them in conducting an effective research. This program is especially designed to assist students to analyze data in their dissertation which is part of their academics.

2. QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES AND LOGICAL REASONING
This course is included in the syllabus of the first and second semesters of the academic sessions for all the Post Graduate students. It aims to build up analytical and logical reasoning in the students allowing them to successfully get through competitive exams and aptitude tests conducted at the time of placements.

3. ANALYSIS OF CURRENT BUSINESS AFFAIRS
This course is designed to encourage students to build self-awareness on industrial, political, stock market and economic events occurring both at national and international platform. This course requires each student to subscribe to Economic Times, the content of which is discussed in class twice a week. The student’s performance is evaluated based on class presentations, discussions and quiz on important events covered in the news.

4. MANAGERIAL COMMUNICATION
This course is integrated into the syllabus to give the students a theoretical foundation of managerial communication. In addition to this, the course focuses on polishing the students’ business vocabulary and business writing skills. The overall objective of this value- added course is to enable the student to master the skill of effective corporate communication.
