State Level Management Seminar

The seminar, held on 25 August 2015, was attended by nearly 500 students. A total of 30 papers were presented by participants from 12 colleges – St. Aloysius College, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Fullinfaw’s College, St. Ann’s Degree College, et al., participated in the seminar.

The seminar commenced with the inaugural ceremony, held in the Loyola Hall. The dignitaries present were the Chief Guest – Mr.Rajesh.Rai – CEO, India Innovation Fund, Guest of Honour – Mr.Raman Gujral – Regional Director, Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Keynote Speaker –Ms.Shraddha Sharma – Founder & Chief Editor,, Principal - Rev. Dr. Daniel Fernandes, SJ, and the HOD of the Department – Ms. Rency Balraj.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Rajesh Rai addressed the gathering and explained the evolution of entrepreneurship as a way of life. He also delivered the important advice for young entrepreneurs to create sustainable enterprises.

The Keynote address was delivered by Ms Shraddha Sharma, who spoke passionately on championing and promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India. She described how she overcame the various hurdles she faced in her life, and implored each and every person present to have confidence in oneself, and to face any challenge with a smile.

Technical Session 1, on “Time Tested and Proven Models of Social Entrepreneurship in India”, was conducted from 10:30 to 11:10 AM, by the Guest of Honour, Mr Raman Gurjral. Mr Gujral enabled those present to gain a deeper understanding of the concept of social entrepreneurship, its functions and dimensions.

The participants from various colleges were then divided into two groups and sent to the Loyola Hall and AV3 to present their research papers. A wide array of knowledge was shared by the students from across colleges.

The Panel Discussion on “Social Entrepreneurship: A Roadmap for Social Empowerment and Economic Up gradation in India” served as an apotheosis of the wisdom of the various speakers at the Inauguration, the practical insights shared by Mr Gujral, and the findings of the student researchers who had presented their papers.

Four professionals, Ms. Annesya – Project Co-ordinator, DFID Projects, Ms. Radhika – of Teach for India, Mr Shivakumar R – Director – Talent Planning & Development at Peak-Performance Solutions Ltd, Mr Rajaram Shastry - Vice President of a Cloud computing & Virtualization company; HR practitioner, and an innovator. with unparalleled understanding of the concept and the various dimensions of social entrepreneurship deliberated on the path social entrepreneurship can pave for the economic up gradation of the nation, as well as the empowerment it can bring in.

The panel was moderated by Mr Ravi Richard, H.O.D of the B.Com Department, SJCC.

The seminar concluded with the valedictory ceremony, and prizes were awarded to the participants.
