Session on Jesuit education

The first year students of St. Joseph's College of Commerce had an insightful session on Jesuit education from 24th to 26th of June. This session was undertaken by a Jesuit priest, Fr. Dheeraj SJ, who explained the impetus of education and the role of Jesuits in this field. The students were made aware of the various Jesuit institutions functioning throughout the world. Father also enlightened the students about the importance of our founder, St Ignatius of Loyola, and the importance of his spiritual practices which are assimilated into every Jesuit. He also stressed upon the intention of imbibing these values in students through Jesuit education. The pillars of Jesuit education- Context, experience, reflection, action and evaluation were comprehensively explained and their significance and role in the student's lives were elucidated in detail.The session concluded with Questions & Answers from the students.On the whole, the students were aptly educated regarding their growth and purpose in a Jesuit institution.
