Eligibility Criteria

  • As per university / college norms for B.Com admission (qualification in 10+2 / PUC from a recognised board; specific cut-offs and SCAT – St. Joseph’s Common Entrance Test and interview requirements per college admission policy).

About Programme

The B.Com (Accounting and Taxation) programme is an integrated undergraduate course aligned with the Chartered Accountancy (CA) curriculum and offered in collaboration with J.K. Shah Classes, a recognised academic partner. It enables students to prepare for CA Foundation and Intermediate alongside core commerce studies, creating a strong academic–professional pathway. The curriculum offers in- depth learning in Accounting, Income Tax, GST, Auditing, Financial Reporting, Corporate Law, Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, Corporate Governance, and Professional Ethics, preparing graduates for careers in accounting, taxation, auditing, finance, and corporate compliance.

Programme Objectives

  • To develop strong subject knowledge in accounting, taxation, auditing, and financial management, aligned with the Chartered Accountancy (CA) curriculum alongside core commerce studies.
  • To equip learners with contemporary accounting and taxation frameworks, standards, and practical interpretation skills relevant to professional practice.
  • To build technical, analytical, and problem-solving competencies and assessments aligned with CA Foundation and Intermediate levels.
  • To foster professional skills such as ethical judgment, communication, teamwork, and decision-making for careers in accounting, auditing, taxation, and compliance.

About the Association

Spectrum is the student-driven association of the B.Com (Accounting and Taxation), a CA Integrated Programme, serving as a dynamic platform for academic, professional, and fine arts engagement. It organizes a diverse range of activities including business events, skill-based workshops, and career building guest lectures to enhance practical learning. The association aims to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with industry-relevant skills and a collaborative mindset.

Objectives

  • To bridge the gap between academia and industry by organizing guest lectures, and networking opportunities with professionals, enabling students to build career-oriented competencies.
  • To foster creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking through a blend of fine arts events, business simulations, and academic initiatives, ensuring all-round student development.
  • To provide a platform for students to enhance technical, analytical, and soft skills through workshops, competitions, and hands-on learning activities.

Association Activities

Fiesta 2026 - Icebreaker

Fiesta 2026 was a freshers' day celebration where two classes came together to showcase their talents in dance, music, skit, and Mad Ads. Both classes gave their best and made the event fun and exciting to watch. The competitive spirit kept the energy high throughout, and the audience had a great time cheering for their favourites. At the end of it all, Section J took home the trophy, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.

ICAI Orientation

As the B.Com Accounting and Taxation programme is an integrated programme with CA syllabus, an orientation session was organised in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which was to give a detailed information about the chartered accountancy.

Leveraging Canva: Designing Basics

Spectrum, an association of B.Com (Accounting and Taxation) programme organised a hands-on workshop on Canva designing which will help students to design their resume, assignments, posters etc. The primary objective of this workshop was to introduce students to the fundamental principles of graphic design and equip them with the skills to utilize Canva, a user-friendly design tool, effectively. Participants gained practical knowledge of design basics and hands-on experience with Canva, enabling them to create professional-looking designs. The event successfully fostered creativity and provided students with a practical skill set relevant in today's digital landscape.

Bembala Outreach Activity

Bembala Outreach – Independence Day Activity

Two activities were designed for the classes by the Bembala Outreach team, a visit to the Urdu Government School and Home of Hope run by Auto Raja. These activities aims to create awareness about the Independence Day among the school students and to spend quality time interacting with the young children and to understand the difficulties faced by destitute women, engaging them with some fun activities.
