The waves of globalisation and liberalisation have brought tremendous industrial growth and
technological advancements, thereby changing the lives of contenders among the student
community. In this world of stratified changes, students must equip themselves with various
skills to compete to create an opportunity in the industry. The objective of the professional
certificate courses offered is to create industry interface with academics to enhance
employable opportunities, avail specialised credential along with the graduate programme.
The focus is to familiarise the students with emerging trends in the field of commerce and
management. Each course under this programme is selected after careful evaluation of its
content, productivity, shelf-life and market relevance. These courses are reviewed and revised
annually in response to the changing needs and demands of the academia and Industry. The
courses run concurrently with the Graduate Programme and are spread for over 60 hours of
inclusive classroom instruction, practical work, assignments, projects, case studies and
presentation.
The training pedagogies in these programmes aim at equipping students with contemporary
concepts, perspectives, practices and approaches. The trainers, who offer these courses, are a
perfect synthesis of experience, knowledge and training skills. Classes are scheduled either
before the regular college hours or post college hours. At the successful completion of the
course, students are awarded Merit and Credit Certificates. They also focus on tie-up with
such knowledge solution partners having the collaborations with NSDC (National skill
Development Corporation).
The institution has successfully collaborated with several distinguished companies that
provide value add on courses to help students acquire Industry oriented skill- set, essential for
their professional growth. The institute also encourages outsiders to enrol for the certificate
courses offered.
TYPES OF CERTIFICATE COURSES OFFERED
1. SWAYAM - It is a model for delivering learning content online to any person who
wants to take a course, with no limit on attendance through massive open online
courses. It offers students, the flexibility to manage their own schedules. This
asynchronous learning model allows individuals to access course materials at their
own pace, accommodating those who may be working or have other commitments.
2. Professional Courses – These are sponsored courses which are offered by the alumni
of the institution to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who may
benefit from additional academic and professional support. These courses prepare
students to empower themselves with the hands-on skills expected by the industry
improving the chances of employment.
3. Bloomberg Certification – This course is offered in association with CHRIST
(Deemed to be University) specifically within Investment management domain that
offers job opportunities like research analyst, investment analyst enhancing the skills
and marketability in the financial sector.
4. Specialised Courses – These courses are offered to the students by in-house as well
as industry experts to both regular and integrated programs considering the emerging
trends in the respective domain of commerce, management, and economics.
ELIGIBILITY
The first- and second-year undergraduate program students are expected to select any one
type of certificate courses offered from the above during their respective academic year. It is
mandatory for all the students to enrol to a suitable certificate course in the odd semester
only.
CREDITS
The students will get 1 credit each after successfully completed the course including
attendance of minimum 75%, centralised examination, and assignments pertaining to the
respective course. The credit will reflect on their marks sheet at the end of each academic
year during the even semester only.
STUDENT SELECTION PROCESS
The students will be notified at the beginning of the academic year with regards to the various
courses offered through a notice on ERP. The students will be oriented about the courses,
registration process, mode of examination, examination pattern, course schedule, grading,
eligibility etc. by the coordinator. All official communication regrading the certificate courses
shall be informed to the students through ERP.
