At St. Joseph's College of Commerce the importance of cultural activities to support
and enhance academic activities is given due value. The college has around 28
associations ranging from College Teams to Art and Cultural associations. The College
Student Council organises four main fests - Kalotsav : an intra-collegiate cultural fest,
Cipher: an intra-collegiate business fest, Chanakya: an inter collegiate business fest
and Dhwani : an inter-collegiate cultural fest. In addition to this, the college
associations along with B.Com, BBA, BA English and BSc Economics departments
associations organise specific fests like Virtuoso, Samsara, Kutumbh, Comverse,
Rotamun, Vividha etc. The language and cultural associations also hold talks,
competitions and fests like Ellipsis, Encarta and others where resource persons
working in the field of art, writing and music are invited to educate and inform
students. The Hashmi Theatre Forum of the college specially nurtures budding
performance artistes in the art of Theatre. It also holds an annual fest called Enact
and conducts performance theory certificate courses for the students.
The college pays special attention to days of national importance like Independence
Day, Teacher's Day and International Yoga Day. Persons of national and cultural
repute are invited to address students. Cultural programmes reflecting the heritage
and culture of India's Diversity and tradition are put up.
The Loyola and Xavier Auditoriums are conducive to the hosting of such cultural
events. Many professional artistes are invited to the college fests and to conduct
workshops for students. The Av rooms and Conference rooms also help in engaging
our students in workshops and talks from renowned authors and artists.
