JOSEPHITE BUSINESS CLUB

The Josephite Business Club (JBC) is the student business association of the BBA Department at St. Joseph's College of Commerce (Autonomous), Bengaluru. Its flagship activities give students an experiential, competition-based route into business thinking — case analysis, strategy under constraints, pitching and adaptive decision-making — that complements classroom learning.

During the reporting period the JBC conducted three flagship competitions: Momentum, a three-day contingent business fest for first-year students (14–16 July 2026); GAMBIT, a card-based strategic pitching challenge held as the BBA Association Activity (28 August 2026); and Morph Code 2026, a two-day, twelve-round business strategy competition built around auctions, crises and a final boardroom (3–4 September 2026). Together the three events engaged 119 student participant places, and all were aligned to SDG 4 – Quality Education.

Objective

Momentum was designed to introduce first-year BBA students to business fests through experiential learning, building analytical thinking, teamwork, communication, presentation skills and strategic decision-making by engaging them with practical business case studies and task-based challenges in a competitive format.

Event Description

Ten teams of four competed across multiple rounds spanning business case studies and task-based challenges, presenting their solutions to a panel of internal judges on the first two days. An overnight round required teams to work beyond scheduled hours to develop a comprehensive solution to an advanced business challenge. Based on cumulative performance, four teams qualified for the grand finale, where finalists presented before Mr. Adnan Baig, an alumnus of SJCC and Ex- President of JBC.

Event Structure

Stage Description
Days 1–2: Competitive rounds Business case studies and task-based challenges presented to a panel of internal judges
Overnight round Teams developed a comprehensive solution to an advanced business challenge beyond scheduled hours
Day 3: Grand finale Top 4 teams, selected on cumulative performance, presented before alumnus judge Mr. Adnan Baig

Outcomes and Learning

  • Critical thinking and business analysis through real-world case studies.
  • Communication, public speaking and presentation skills developed across repeated judged rounds.
  • Teamwork and endurance under time pressure, particularly in the overnight round.
  • Application of classroom concepts to practical business scenarios, with alumni exposure at the finale.

Venue Room No. 303
Organised By Josephite Business Club (JBC), BBA Department

SDG Alignment SDG 4 – Quality Education
IKS Integration Collaborative learning, strategic thinking, discipline, ethical decision-making and adaptability, reflecting values associated with Indian Knowledge Systems

Objective

GAMBIT aimed to develop participants' strategic thinking, creativity, communication, teamwork and ability to respond to changing business situations, encouraging practical decisions within a defined set of rules and time constraints.

Event Description

The competition revolved around three decks of cards. Teams drew cards and had to follow the specific rules and conditions attached to them while developing a business pitch. After the card draw, teams were given preparation time to understand their constraints, develop their ideas and structure their pitches. Midway through preparation, a Market Shock was introduced, forcing teams to reassess their approach and adapt. Presentation rounds began at 10:50 AM with teams pitching within their assigned conditions, followed by a final presentation round, score tally and closing.

Schedule

Time Activity
8:45 AM Reporting
9:15 – 9:30 AM Introduction, settling in, briefing and card drawing
9:30 – 10:45 AM Preparation
10:10 AM Market Shock introduced
10:50 – 11:40 AM Presentations
11:40 AM Final presentation
11:40 AM – 12:00 PM Score tally and closing

Outcomes and Learning

  • Strategic decision-making and business pitching under defined constraints.
  • Flexibility and quick thinking, sharpened by the mid-preparation Market Shock.
  • Clear communication of ideas and effective collaboration within teams
  • Peer learning, as teams observed the decisions and approaches of others.

Participant Response

Participant response was positive. The atmosphere remained energetic and encouraging throughout, with teams engaging actively and responding enthusiastically to the challenges. The combination of card-based rules, preparation, market disruption and pitching created an engaging business simulation that tested participants' ability to think strategically and adapt under pressure.

Morph Code 2026

"In business, having a perfect plan is not always enough — knowing how to adapt is equally important."

Objective

Morph Code 2026 gave students an opportunity to apply business concepts in a practical, interactive setting, strengthening strategic thinking, adaptability, decision-making, teamwork, creativity and resource management.

Event Description

Day 1 at Magis Hall began with participants accessing the event website and registering their names. A Capital Test quiz allowed teams to earn Morph Coins, which they then spent in the Morph Auction, bidding for two to three brands or companies within a limited budget while hidden Boon/Bane conditions remained undisclosed. The auction required teams to think carefully about how to deploy their coins and which brands would serve them best, reinforcing the value of calculated decisions under resource constraints. Subsequent rounds — Morph Code, Morph Market and an Overnight Build — had teams select a product, form alliances and build a complete business around their brand.

Day 2 in AV Room 1 tested those businesses through a 60-second pitch, a Celebrity Reveal, a PR Crisis, the split-team Morph Stake and the reveal of hidden Boon/Bane conditions, before a final strategy round under a Market Shock and a Final Boardroom presentation with Q&A.

Master Event Flow

Round Day / Venue Time Core Output
1. Capital Test Day 1 • AV 25 min Starting Morph Coin balance
2. Morph Auction Day 1 • AV 45 min One known brand per team; Boon/Bane hidden
3. Morph Code Day 1 • AV 25 min Product selected by solving speed
4. Morph Market Day 1 • AV 15 min Cards, alliances and secret attacks
5. Overnight Build Day 1 Overnight Complete business built around brand + product
6. 60-sec Pitch Day 2 • AV 35 min Company introduction + short Q&A
7. Celebrity Reveal Day 2 • AV 30 min Selection order + celebrity reveal

11. Final Prep Day 2 • Board 25 min Final strategy + Market Shock
12. Final Boardroom Day 2 • Board 75–90 min 5-min presentation + 2-min Q&A per team

Outcomes and Learning

  • Business extends beyond the classroom: teams managed limited resources and weighed the value of brands and companies.
  • Adaptability: hidden conditions, crises and market shocks required strategies to change mid-competition.
  • There is rarely one fixed approach to a business problem; being able to adapt matters as much as a good initial strategy.
  • Teamwork, pitching and boardroom presentation skills developed across twelve rounds.

Participant Response

Participants responded positively to the interactive format. The activities offered a different way of understanding business, allowed them to apply their knowledge as a team, and deepened their grasp of decision-making, strategy and resource management in a practical situation.

Conclusion

Across the three events, the Josephite Business Club built a clear progression of experiential learning for BBA students: Momentum introduced first-year students to the format and rigour of business fests; GAMBIT tested their ability to pitch within rules and respond to disruption; and Morph Code 2026 extended this into a sustained, multi-round simulation of running a business through auctions, crises and boardroom scrutiny. Each event was completed successfully, with active participation, strong coordination by the organising team and volunteers, and consistently positive participant feedback.

The events reinforced the BBA Department's commitment to SDG 4 – Quality Education and to employability-oriented skills such as strategic thinking, adaptability, collaboration and decision-making. Continued involvement of alumni and faculty judges, and formal capture of feedback and attendance data, will further strengthen future editions.
