Theme – Narratives of Resilience

The life bubble becomes colourful and lively when it’s filled with exciting narratives. The curiosity for narratives and the quest for new ideas make human existence fascinating. In a hasty world where time fractures our experiences into fragments, the art of storytelling becomes a lifesaver.

Life journeys become enchanting for the narratives they evolve to be, especially for the perspectives they embody. Engaging with such stories help us find our abodes in life. Some life narratives, especially those that illustrate resilient experiences make us cry, quarrel, laugh and gather lessons for the future. They inspire us to experiment with our dreams, and fill our hearts with hope. The realization —“I am not the only one” can make a world of difference to many of us in moments of dilemma and desperation.

For many of us, life is lived in the past, in bubbles of memory. People who we admired, moments we felt loved and let down, experiences of desperation and hope, and the many other occasions we cherish — all of them live together in the bubble. These narratives, leisurely floating for the narrator’s attention, when brought together may help us envision new life paths. They often help us chisel the flakes in our self and shape us as resilient individuals.

The culture of a college campus becomes dynamic when stories from different cultures effortlessly intermingle. St. Joseph’s College of Commerce has been a melting pot of narratives representing experiences from diverse backgrounds. Continuous exposure to this culture has instilled in generations of students, the ability to weave their scattered experiences into a narrative. At the same time, SJCC always walks the extra mile to create opportunities for new ideas to flourish. TEDxSJCC is inspired by this culture that celebrates the curiosity for narratives and ideas. At TEDxSJCC, individuals from diverse backgrounds will share snippets of their journey and pioneering ideas. We invite you to participate in this enriching series of conversation and add a new perspective to your worldview.
