Message from Head of the Department
The Bachelor of Business Administration department is built on the vision of cultivating confident, responsible, and future-ready leaders. Our department focuses on bridging academic learning with real-world application, ensuring that every student develops not just knowledge, but the ability to think strategically, act ethically, and lead with purpose.
Students engage with a curriculum that is continuously updated to evolve alongside global business trends, gaining valuable exposure through internships, research assignments, and other extracurricular ventures. The department also provides numerous platforms — from management fests to social initiatives — where students explore their potential, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life.
Guided by the college’s core values of excellence, integrity, and service, the BBA department strives to shape individuals who not only achieve professional success but also drive meaningful impact in business and society as a whole.
About the Programme
In a business world shaped by constant technological evolution spanning across the country, it is imperative to cultivate and augment management talent at all levels. To keep in step with the rapidly changing environment, every educational institution must continually redefine and innovate itself. This led to the creation of the BBA Department at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC) in the academic year 2004-2005. Within a short period, our department has established itself as a future-ready institute in undergraduate management studies. Our mission is to do more than just educate; we aim to motivate, empower and prepare students for their careers and beyond. We are focused on building versatile graduates who will confidently pursue higher studies in management to turn into effective managers handling strategic risks, or become influential teachers and researchers that contribute to the world, or take up high-level consultation roles that help businesses leverage cutting-edge management knowledge.
Objectives of the Department
• To build a strong foundation in the functional areas of business, ensuring students are prepared to pursue and excel across diverse managerial fields.• To skilfully blend real-world competencies like presentation skills, geo-political awareness, rapid reading and time management alongside theory.
• To facilitate knowledge creation through relevant, applied, and conceptual research projects.
• To enhance students' decision-making skills and administrative competence
• To encourage students to apply management techniques to real - life scenarios keeping them ahead.
• To ensure holistic development via dedicated training in soft skills, computer proficiency, through mandatory certificate courses and vocational enhancement courses.
