The college encourages and supports the participation of its students in various short-term programs conducted by foreign universities. They are listed below:
Kobe College, Japan seeks to provide an environment and education based on Christian principles that nurture individuals who understand their role in their environment and society. Kobe College offers Graduate and Under Graduate programs across various disciplines. St. Joseph’s College of Commerce and Kobe College, have a long-standing partnership spanning over a decade and both the institutions engage in mutually beneficial exchange programs. This year, 8 students and 1 faculty took up the cultural exchange program from October 15th- 25th, 2024. This exchange program provided students a valuable opportunity to understand the rich culture of Japan and moulded them into becoming global citizens.
• London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), LondonDhritiSreeInjeti from 3 B.Com A and SamridhiNahar from 2 BBA A participated in the Summer School Program offered by London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London.DhritiSreeInjeti had taken up the course Consumer Behaviour: Behavioural Fundamentals for Marketing and Management from July 8th- 26th, 2024. SamridhiNahar had taken up the course Brand Strategy from July 29th- 16th August, 2024.
• Cultural Exchange ProgramKobe College, Japan and St. Joseph’s College of Commerce have a long standing collaboration and every year a mutual cultural exchange program is conducted where students and faculty of both institutions engage in meaningful discussions and deliberations to understand the nuances of the country’s culture through an immersive experience. This year, the staff and students of the Department of English conducted a 30 hour English Training Program for 6 students from Kobe College and SJCC hosted them on campus for a period of 10 days from 26th August to 6th September, 2024. The English Training Classes were conducted every day in the forenoon session and in the afternoon sessions, a combination of guest lectures on various aspects of Indian culture, Jesuit education, interactive workshops and cultural programs were organised for the KC students.
• Toulouse Business School (TBS):This year, 8 students from SJCC took up the Summer School Program in TBS, Barcelona, and studied courses such as Omnichannel Retail Strategy and New Venture Finance. The course was for a duration of 3 weeks from July 3rd- 21st, 2023. The students are required to study two courses during the program. On successful completion of both courses, the students have earned a total of 12 ECTS (European Credit Transfer Accumulation System).
• The Harvard College Project for Asian & International Relations- Hong KongA student of 2 BSc. Economics participated in the Harvard College Project for Asian & International Relations. The conference was based on the theme “Architects of Asia: Building Tomorrow”. This opportunity facilitated the student to engage with renowned speakers, network with fellow delegates, and create lifelong memories and connections.
• Global Innovation Camp – UAEVijigishu Education Private Ltd., organised an immersion program for the students of SJCC from September 6 th - 11 th , 2023. 14 students from across programs and years attended this program which consisted of factory and industry visits, lectures by industry professionals and university visits.
• Prof.Jossy Mathew, Swansea University visited theSJCC campus on 30th August, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to explore further collaborations and widening the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
• Prof. Russel, University of Aberdeen visited the campus on3rd September, 2024 to give a guest lecture for our students and to discuss the potential collaborative opportunities with the institution.
• Dr.Meenakshi Sarkar, University of Leeds visited the SJCC campus on 10th September, 2024. Dr. Sarkar gave a guest lecture to our students on Critical Thinking.
• Swansea University, UK- Alumni Meet hosted by SJCC On 26th September, 2024 Swansea University, UK, held a meeting for their alumni who are settled in Bangalore. This was an opportunity to network and further strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.
SJCC hosted a few foreign delegates from our existing foreign partner universities and some other counsel generals in Bengaluru. They are listed below:
• Mr. Daniel Morency, Counsel General of Canada in Bengaluru visited the SJCC campus on 8th May 2023. The purpose of the meeting was to explore the possibilities of the prospects of education in Canada and the scope for students and other requisites.
• Ms Emma Main, faculty from Swansea University Wales visited the campus on 27th May 2023 for a small meeting regarding the ongoing partnership between SJCC and Swansea University - Wales.
• Mr. Dmitri Fridman, Executive Vice President, BRICS International Alliance, Russia, and Mr. Harsha Vardhan, IRS Customs Commissioner visited the SJCC campus on 20th June 2023 for a small meeting regarding an upcoming Russian student's visit to SJCC.
• Dr. Ajay T Abraham from Seattle University, visit on 10 th August 2023, focused on evaluating the viable options to improve opportunities for faculty in the collaboration between Seattle University and St. Joseph’s College of Commerce.
• Mr. Shiva Guda from Te Pukenga University, visit on 16 th August 2023, to give updates on the revamped structure of the University and the administrative restructuring that has taken place.
• Dr. Travis Maynard from Colorado State University, visit on 26 th August 2023, was a preliminary meeting from Colorado State University to discuss the potential collaboration opportunities between the institutions.
• Seattle University students and faculty visit, on 5 th September 2023 to the SJCC campus was a cultural immersion program. A session was facilitated by Principal- SJCC on the higher education in India and a Negotiation activity was conducted for students from both institutions,
On 7th May 2024, Dr. Preemal D'Souza and Ms. Ankitha Antony, faculty members of St. Joseph's College of Commerce (SJCC), delivered a guest lecture to the Marketing elective students of Seattle University. The session focused on the nuances of market research in India, shedding light on the ground realities of data collection and the challenges faced by companies in the field
• 6th June, 2024- ‘Study Abroad Talk Series- Episode 01- An online session with Swansea University- Wales (UK)’Ms. Emma Main is the Internationalization Officer at Swansea University, Wales (UK) and also a faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. The Study Abroad Talk Series is organized with an intention to provide the students an opportunity to interact with partner universities and get an insight on the various opportunities provided by them.
• 7th June, 2024- ‘Marketing in the 21st Century: Industry and Career Insights’Dr. Ajay T Abraham is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing, Albers Business School of Business and Economics, Seattle University. The session was attended by the 2nd year B.Com Regular students. Dr. Ajay gave the students a perspective on Marketing in the current context and its relevance in the 21st Century.
• 13th June, 2024- ‘Statistical Methods in Economic Analysis’Dr. NourWehbe is a Lecturer in Economics, Department of Economics at Montpellier Business School, France. The session was attended by the students studying Economics from all three years. Dr. Nour gave the students a perspective on the use of Statistics in different fields.
• 27th June, 2024- “Saying it again (and again): Repetition and Parallel Structures”Dr. Alan Kellerman is a professor of English in Swansea University, Wales (UK). The guest lecture was organized for the students of the BA English department. It was an interactive session on poetry writing and the students obtained insights on the relevance of the same in today’s world of AI and modern fast-paced technology.
• 30th August, 2024- ‘Emerging Global Landscape: What’s in it for an Indian Commerce Graduate?’Dr. Jossy Mathew from Swansea University, UK, is a senior professor in Human Resource Management and OrganisationalBehaviour and Business. The guest lecture was organized for the students of the first year from B.Com International Accounting and Finance. Prof. Jossy gave insights to the students on the relevance of Commerce education in a global context and the opportunities available to students in different parts of the world.
• 10th September, 2024- Workshop on ‘Think beyond the box: Unlocking your critical thinking power’Dr. Meenakshi Sarkar is a lecturer in Human Resource Management and Diversity Management at Leeds University Business School, UK. The session was attended by the 2nd year students of BBA and B.Com Regular programs. Dr. Sarkar provided the students with an insight on the importance of thinking critically and understanding the relevance of critical thinking in data analysis.
• 12th November, 2024- Workshop on “The Sound of…Sound”Dr. Alan Kellerman is a professor of English in Swansea University, Wales (UK). He lectures primarily in poetry, but has also supervised and examined projects in science fiction. The guest lecture was organized for the students of the BA English department and saw an attendance of about 20 students. Dr. Kellermann gave insights to the students on poetry writing, focusing on alliterations. He guided the students on using the sounds of words while writing poetry.
• 13th November, 2024- Guest Lecture on "The Turtle-Elephant Problem of Culture in Economics"Dr. Annie Tubadji, from Swansea University, UK, is a cultural and regional economist. Dr. Annie’s lecture centered around the influence of culture on Economics in general and its impact on economic decision making. She explained to the students the meaning of the ‘turtle-elephant problem of culture’ and gave relevant examples to help students understand the implications of the problem. It was well received by the students and saw an attendance of over 60 students from the B.Sc Economics department.
• 27th January, 2025- Panel Discussion with Foreign Universities by GenNextA panel discussion was held for students of 3 B.Com G, 2 B.Com F, and 2 BBA A on 27th January 2025 who engaged in an interactive discussion with distinguished panellists representing various universities. The panellists shared details about postgraduate programs, admission criteria, and scholarship opportunities at their respective universities. University at Buffalo School of Management, USA, Clarkson University, USA, Coventry University, UK, Duquesne University, USA, Università Bocconi, Italy were the universities present in the panel.
• 3rd February, 2025- Panel Discussion with Foreign Universities by SEED FoundationA panel discussion was held for students of 3 BBA A, 3 BBA B, and 3 BBA D on 3rd February 2025. Panellists provided insights into business programs, specializations, and global learning opportunities. Students learned about admission criteria, application procedures, and available scholarships for international business programs. American University – Kogod School of Business, University of San Francisco, Imperial College Business School, Johns Hopkins University – Carey Business School, University of Maryland, King’s College London, Santa Clara University – Leavey College of Business, Università Bocconi, Italy were the universities that were present.
• 2 nd August 2023- ‘Prospects & Possibilities – An interactive session on career pathways in Literature & Humanities’The Department of English facilitated a talk for its students on the Prospects & Possibilities of career pathways in Literature & Humanities. The resource person for the session- Dr. Asha Sen is a professor of English from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire and was sourced by the International Desk.
• 9 th August 2023- A Talk on ‘World Peace and Legacy of Hiroshima Nagasaki’The International Desk in collaboration with the College Associations organized a talk on World Peace and Legacy of Hiroshima Nagasaki delivered by Mr. Maruo Katsumasa, a diplomatic representative of Japan in the Solomon Islands.
• 16 th August 2023- A Talk on “AI powered Consumer Insights: The Future is Here” delivered by Dr. Ajay T AbrahamDr. Ajay T Abraham is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing, Albers Business School of Business and Economics, Seattle University.

The IAJU Global Citizenship Curriculum Project is an initiative of the IAJU Task Force on Global Citizenship. The Desk is coordinating the project with set of interested students by giving them reading instructions, and sharing knowledge through focus group discussions.
The International Desk has been given the responsibility to promote and execute the Global Citizenship Curriculum Project in the college for the academic year 2023-24.
